Google Earth or Google Maps

Now you have a choice when you use Armchair Vacations,  Google Earth or Google Maps.  Google Earth is a separate application that offers lots of extras while Google Maps is built into your web browser.  Google Earth is the Scenic First Class Tour while Google Maps is the Express Tour.  You may want to try them both.

Google Earth

Google Earth is an interactive satellite image viewer.  Many of the images are so detailed that you feel like you are hovering in a hot air balloon, and you can go any place on earth by simply using your mouse.  Everytime you change your location, Google Earth downloads the necessary image to update your display.

Google Maps

Armchair Vacations was origianally designed to use with Google Earth.  It's a great way to see the Earth and Armchair Vacations is an easy way to take a tour with Google Earth.  However, Google Earth might have a few drawbacks.  You need to install Google on your computer and that might not be possible.  Every though Google Earth works with most web browsers, it doesn't work the same with all browsers or all machines.  Lastly, running Google Earth is a little slower than using Google Maps.
